HR Director Phil Renwick recently returned from Amsterdam in the Netherlands where he met and collaborated with HR peers from across the Knauf global businesses.
“The aim of the visit was to agree and plan out the implementation of the best solutions for our global ‘People Must Win Battle’,” Phil said.
The People Must Win Battle is a global collective HR strategy identified by the Knauf group to deliver local best practices, including employee engagement; talent and succession; leadership and change; and providing transparent opportunities for employees.
“It was a good opportunity to discuss the changing landscape of human resources,” Phil said. “Expectations of the employer are changing, as are customers’ expectations of the employees. Digital approaches, a global market with increased information access and the importance of sustainability all have an influence,” Phil said.
According to Phil it was good to collaborate with Knauf colleagues from all over the world who are facing the same challenges, even when the markets they operate in are so diverse.
“Finding and retaining the best people for the job has become much more important than ever, and also a lot more complicated. Employees expect professional growth and opportunities to grow. They want to be heard and expect their opinion to count,” said Phil.
“Knauf wants to become the employer of choice for the best people in the industry. And by placing our people at the heart of what we do and enabling them to be their best, all our other business objectives will follow.”
