Knauf Australia embarked on a journey of a hundred days by participating in this year’s Virgin Pulse Global Challenge, and we came out healthier and fitter on the other side!
The Challenge kicked off on 4 September 2019 and officially closed on 17 December 2019.
A total of 34 Knauf teams and 238 employees participated in the event. The step average of all the teams in our company was an impressive 15,316 steps per day with an average daily distance of just over 9 km. Together our participants have taken a total of 276,898,468 steps!
Data recently provided by the Global Challenge team indicates that 47.9 per cent of Knauf participants now fall in “highly active” category with a step range of 12,500+.
The Warriors were the most active team and The Magnificent Seven was the best performing team with the highest number of points.
Knauf Australia’s HR Director Phil Renwick said the response to the Challenge has been impressive. “The uptake has been great. There was some healthy competition between the participants and it’s been a favourite talking point at the various sites. It’s definitely done a lot to improve employee engagement.
“We are waiting for the final report from the Global Challenge team, but it’s clear that participants’ health and activity levels have increased considerably over the course of the Challenge,” Phil said.
So are we going to do it again next year?
“We are definitely looking at expanding our Health and Wellness program next year and we will consider participating in the Challenge again. We are however also looking at proposals for onsite health screening and assessments and we also want to encourage local teams to nominate activities and events that will foster exercise and participation among our staff,” he said.
