Australia is the latest country to introduce the global, lightweight construction brand Siniat after the recent purchase of Knauf Australia by the Etex Group. But what is the story behind this brand?
The Etex Group’s history started in 1905 with the founding of the Eternit fibre cement factory in Haren near Brussels in Belgium. Today the Etex Group has grown to a successful, 60 brand strong “house of brands”, with 13,260 employees globally.
Siniat is one of the Etex Group’s flagship commercial brands, and one of the leading global manufacturers of interior and exterior materials for drywall construction.
The Siniat story essentially begins in 1931, when the family-owned company Etex started its own gypsum activities in Europe.
The Etex Group started its own drywall initiative in 1957, but the true breakthrough came in 2011, when Etex gradually acquired Lafarge plasterboard activities in Europe, Latin America, and Africa and rebranded them Siniat.
The Siniat history resonates with our own: The Knauf Group purchased the Australian plasterboard business from Lafarge to expand its footprint in the Asia Pacific region in 2011.
Ten years later the purchase of Knauf Australia reinforces Siniat’s global leverage, and we are very excited to be part of the brand’s success story.
Siniat is a key supply partner on thousands of construction projects around the world. The brand is renowned for providing innovative plasterboard products and has become a trusted partner in developing sustainable answers to the demand for more and better living spaces.
Siniat is one of the strongest drivers in the Etex Group to fulfil the Etex purpose of ‘Inspiring ways of living’.
Their philosophy behind customer service is a natural fit for our business: Siniat is also known for collaborating with the customer in planning larger projects and for creating innovative smart solutions that suit their needs.
Siniat benefits from Etex’s research and development centres across the globe, and can offer its customers the latest technology in lightweight construction systems. We will soon introduce a range of specialized Siniat products and systems to the market. In some instances they will be alternatives to the products and systems previously imported under the Knauf brand, and there may also be new products and systems not yet available in Australia. More about this soon!
Siniat also shares our business’s sustainability goals and commitment to sustainable development. With the Siniat brand in Australia, we will build on the work we have already done in establishing ourselves as a true sustainability partner.
We will continue to provide sustainable products and systems by working with government regulations, adhering to industry requirements, employing effective waste management strategies and participating in formal certification processes.
Over the next couple of weeks and months, Knauf Australia will rebrand to Siniat. This entails introducing a new website, new specialty products and Siniat branded literature and packaging.
What won’t change is our team of experienced individuals, so customers can rest assured that they will be receiving the same excellent service from the same great team.
