Knauf is proud to be the first organisation in the gypsum industry in Australia to achieve a triple ISO certification for all its manufacturing operations.
The manufacturing and distribution facilities at Bundaberg have now also received certification to the most current ISO management system standards for Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental Management.
These standards have previously been achieved by Knauf’s plants at Altona (VIC), Matraville (NSW) and Beenleigh (QLD).
What is ISO certification?
ISO stands for International Organization for Standardisation. It is an independent, non-governmental, international organisation that ensures the quality, safety, and efficiency of products, services and systems by developing and maintaining a set of standards.
Certification is achieved after an independent audit that assesses the organisation against the criteria of the standards. It is not a one-off process; certification actions are ongoing with regular surveillance audits every year by the independent auditor, as well as re-certification audits every three years.
At Knauf we have achieved the following certifications:
- ISO 9001:2015 certification for quality management systems
- ISO 14001:2015 certification for environmental management systems
- OHSAS 18001:2007 certification for health & safety management systems.
A new international standard (ISO 45001:2018 health & safety management systems) has been released and will replace OHSAS 18001 / AS/NZS 4801. We will be transitioning to this new standard towards the end of 2020.
Bundaberg Plant has achieved ISO 9001 certification in August 2019, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 in November 2019.
