Knauf Australia recently sponsored a fascinating webinar on environmentally responsive housing, with specific reference to the design and construction process of Adelaide’s first 10 star home, designed by SUHO. The CPD webinar was presented by Ruth Nordstrom, SUHO Studio Manager.
This webinar provided reflective lessons from the design and construction process of the 10 star home. Using the home as a case study, Ruth discussed the importance of context in designing high performance housing, the tools and tips learnt along the way to make it an achievable construction and the importance of relationships with industry stakeholder to achieve better outcomes.
The webinar sponsorship provided Knauf with the opportunity to tell attendees more about the company, our products and our sustainability statement and ethos. Nazli Almasirad, National Architectural Manager, facilitated the online introduction to Knauf and its products.
The 10 star home, with the name Sagacious, is South Australia’s first 10 star house. It is a pioneering project undertaken by SUHO ESD consultants in partnership with different product manufacturers, including Knauf Australia, to demonstrate the benefits of high performing homes.
Knauf supplied Carbon Neutral and Level A Green Tag certified plasterboard to the project. Read more about our involvement here.
“Initiatives like the webinar and Adelaide’s 10 star home provide an excellent opportunity to become involved with projects that align with our own values and objectives relating to sustainability and innovation,” Nazli said.
“The CPD webinar gave a unique insight into the challenges of designing and constructing an environmentally responsive house,” said Nazli. “But it also made it clear that this type of sustainable construction is not only achievable, but the way of the future.
“It is exciting to be part of the conversation with like-minded stakeholders in the construction industry, and an opportunity for us to learn more about sustainable design and how our products can support such projects.”
